  All this for three DVDs.
  
  Placed an order online for in-store pickup. Even got a $3 incentive to use this “service”.
  
  Until I send a friend to pick it up because I’ve caught one of those lovely spring colds.
  
  They won’t let him pick it up because his name isn’t on the order. Ok, so I login to the app, which didn’t show the order. So I dug up the email and clicked the link, which opened the order in the app, and when I clicked the Make Changes button, it signed me out.
  
  So I try to call the store. Sit on hold listening to this horrid music and some blathering about how important my call is, only to be told that the guy who answered wasn’t even at the store so he had to transfer me back to Novi.
  
  Someone finally answered. I started with saying I’m not mad at her and just extremely frustrated, which apparently didn’t mean much. She got her undies in a bunch because I wasn’t nice, put me on hold for about ten seconds to ask her manager if she could release the order, came back and said no, that I had to call the 800 number and hung up on me. That’s right, hung up.
  
  Yep, that made me even happier with the transaction. And this store.
  
  So I call the 800 number who tells me the store misinformed me and they can’t do it, either. Oh, and the reason I can’t change the update to add my friend is because they’re having a system wide issue and getting lots of calls about it.
  
  Meanwhile, my friend is still standing there, waiting to pickup the order.
  
  I delete the app from phone, click the link in the email again which forces it to go to the web-site, and I can finally make changes to the order. And get this ... I have to add my friend’s name to every line item.
  
  All for a $32 order.
  
  And they wonder why they’re losing customers.
  
  Note that everyone was very nice. Nice is great, competency is a must. If I can’t actually buy a product, it doesn’t matter how “nice” everyone is. And if I can’t buy a product, they can’t make money. That’s kind of a basic business concept. If you don’t bring money in, you can’t stay in business.
